Boost4U GD250 dual-band Band 8 and Band 3 900 1800MHz mobile signal booster with 8dBi Yagi outdoor antenna and 5dBi indoor panel antenna for all four UK operators

The Boost4U GD250 (model MBGD250gb) is a dual-band Band 8 & Band 3 (900/1800 MHz) mobile signal booster that simultaneously amplifies 2G GSM voice calls and SMS on 900 MHz and 4G LTE data on 1800 MHz, delivering ≥50 dB uplink and ≥55 dB downlink gain with a maximum output of −70 to −40 dBm/FA across up to 250 m² (2,691 ft²) — a three-to-five-bedroom house, small office, garage, metal building, café, restaurant, bar or shop. It pairs an 8 dBi weatherproof Yagi directional outdoor antenna (aimed at the nearest mast) with a 5 dBi indoor panel/omni antenna on a 10 m low-loss N-type coax (upgradable to 20/30/40/50 m), runs from an AC 100–240 V UK 3-pin adapter outputting DC 5 V, and supports up to 25 simultaneous users. It is the only unit in the Boost4U range that covers all four UK carriers at once — EE, O2, Vodafone and Three — but with an important caveat: O2 and Vodafone customers receive 2G voice (Band 8) but not 4G data, because those operators' 4G rides mainly on Band 20 (800 MHz); Three customers receive 4G data (Band 3) but not 2G voice; and only EE customers receive both 2G voice and 4G data. It does not boost 5G, 3G, Band 20 (800 MHz) 4G or Band 7 (2600 MHz) 4G. Ofcom licence-exempt, UKCA/CE certified with AGC, it is priced at £235.00 GBP and is covered by a 365-day money-back guarantee with free UK delivery in 10–15 working days.

Pros & Cons — Honest Review

    Pros

    • The only Boost4U unit that combines Band 8 (900 MHz) 2G voice and Band 3 (1800 MHz) 4G LTE in one box — one amplifier, one power supply, one drill kit, not two.
    • Covers all four UK carriers (EE, O2, Vodafone, Three) and their MVNOs at once — ideal for households or small businesses with mixed-operator SIMs.
    • EE customers get the complete package: 2G calls and SMS on Band 8 and 4G LTE data on Band 3, both boosted simultaneously.
    • 8 dBi weatherproof Yagi outdoor antenna pulls in weak fringe donor signal far better than a basic omni antenna, and it is directional so it can be aimed at the exact mast you need.
    • 250 m² (2,691 ft²) rating fits a three-to-five-bedroom house, a small office, a shop, a café, a bar, a garage or a metal-sided building.
    • Up to 25 simultaneous users — enough for a small team, a household with teenagers, or a corner shop's staff and customers.
    • 10 m low-loss N-type coax (upgradable to 20/30/40/50 m) gives real routing freedom between roof/chimney Yagi and central indoor unit.
    • Ofcom licence-exempt, UKCA/CE certified with built-in AGC — fully legal in the UK, no monthly fee, no new SIM contract, backed by a 365-day money-back guarantee.
    • DIY install in 30–60 minutes with a drill, screwdriver, spanner and ladder — no engineer visit, no call-out charge.

    Cons

    • At £235.00 it is a premium purchase — nearly double the G250 voice-only unit at £110 and above the D250 at £169. You are paying for the dual-band combination.
    • O2 and Vodafone customers get 2G voice (Band 8) but not 4G data, because those operators' 4G rides mainly on Band 20 (800 MHz), which this unit does not boost.
    • Three customers get 4G data (Band 3) but not 2G voice, because Three has switched off its 2G network in most of the UK.
    • It does not boost 5G, 3G, Band 20 (800 MHz) 4G or Band 7 (2600 MHz) 4G — if you need any of those, this is the wrong product.
    • Rated 250 m², but that is the ceiling — a five-bed detached house, a converted barn or a three-storey townhouse will outgrow it.
    • Requires at least 1–2 bars of usable outdoor donor signal at the Yagi mounting point — it amplifies what is there, it cannot create signal from nothing.
    • The 8 dBi Yagi is directional and must be physically aimed at the nearest base station; point it the wrong way and you will get little or no improvement.
    • The indoor antenna is only 5 dBi — lower than many outdoor antennas, so coverage depends on placing the indoor unit centrally and on the right floor.
    • Outdoor and indoor antennas need at least 10 m of vertical separation to prevent self-oscillation (feedback) — floor-to-floor placement matters.
    • Standard coax is 10 m; longer runs (20/30/40/50 m) are paid upgrades and lose a little signal, so pair a longer cable with the higher-gain Yagi option.
    • Standard free UK delivery is 10–15 working days with 1–2 days handling — not next-day; if you need it urgently, budget for the lead time.
    • 25 simultaneous users is a hard cap — a busy pub, a 50-desk office or a warehouse will outgrow it and need a commercial C-series unit.

    3-Step DIY Installation (30–60 Minutes)

    1

    Aim & Fix the Yagi

Bracket-mount the 8 dBi weatherproof Yagi on the wall, chimney or gable end using the included outdoor bracket, screws and spanner. Use a field-strength app to point it at the nearest EE / O2 / Vodafone / Three mast — direction matters on a Yagi. Run the 10 m N-type low-loss coax through the wall; use the 20/30/40/50 m upgrade if the route is long.

    2

    Place the Indoor Panel

Mount the 5 dBi indoor panel antenna centrally — upstairs landing, hallway or shop ceiling — at least 10 m vertically below the outdoor Yagi to prevent oscillation. Connect the coax to the GD250 unit's N-type port. Keep the indoor antenna away from windows facing the mast.

    3

    Plug In & Test

Plug the UK 3-pin AC adapter into a standard wall socket (DC 5 V output). The LED indicators show power, Band 8 lock and Band 3 lock; AGC self-adjusts within 60 seconds. Walk every room with an EE phone (both bands), an O2/Vodafone phone (calls only) and a Three phone (data only) to confirm coverage.

Built for Mixed-Carrier Homes & Small Premises

    3–5 Bed Family Home

Households on mixed EE / O2 / Vodafone / Three SIMs finally get calls and 4G data in the same box across 250 m².

    Small Shop / Corner Store

Staff and customer phones, card-terminal SMS and mobile data hold through the shop floor and back office.

    Café / Bar / Pub

Up to 25 patrons and staff connected at once — order-ahead 4G data and phone calls hold in the bar and seating area.

    Garage / Metal Building

Steel-clad garage, workshop or garden office that used to kill every phone call and mobile data connection.

Frequently Asked Questions — Real UK Dual-Band, All-Operator Problems

Why do O2 and Vodafone customers only get calls, not faster 4G data, on the GD250?

Because the GD250 boosts Band 3 (1800 MHz), which is the 4G LTE band that EE and Three use — but O2 and Vodafone carry most of their UK 4G traffic on Band 20 (800 MHz), a lower frequency this unit does not cover. So an O2 or Vodafone SIM in a GD250-boosted home will show full bars for calls and SMS on Band 8 (900 MHz), but your 4G mobile data will not be amplified. If you are an O2 or Vodafone customer who needs faster 4G data indoors, you need a Band 20 (800 MHz) booster, not the GD250. The GD250 is the right choice if your pain point is dropped calls and failing texts on O2/Vodafone, or if you have an EE or Three data SIM in the same building.

Why does Three give me 4G data but no 2G calls on the GD250?

Three has switched off its 2G GSM network across most of the UK — Three phones never had a 2G voice fallback in the way EE, O2 and Vodafone phones do. The GD250 boosts Band 8 (900 MHz) 2G voice, but Three does not transmit 2G voice on that band, so a Three SIM gets no call amplification. What Three does carry on Band 3 (1800 MHz) is 4G LTE data — and that is exactly what the GD250 boosts. So Three customers see fast 4G data indoors but calls still rely on Three's own 4G VoLTE coverage. If you are a Three customer whose pain is dropped calls rather than slow data, the GD250 will not fix voice; it will fix mobile data.

    Is the GD250 worth £235 versus buying the G250 (£110) and D250 (£169) separately?

Buying both single-band units separately costs £279 — £44 more than the GD250 at £235 — and leaves you with two amplifiers, two power supplies, two indoor antennas and two drill kits to route and mount. The GD250 combines Band 8 voice and Band 3 data in one chassis, one LED panel, one 10 m coax and one UK 3-pin adapter. It is the better buy if you need both bands in the same building. If you only need O2/Vodafone calls, the G250 at £110 is enough; if you only need EE 4G, the D250 at £169 is enough. The GD250 exists for the mixed-carrier household or small premises that would otherwise have to buy two boxes.

Do EE customers really get both 2G calls and 4G data on the GD250?

Yes — EE is the one UK carrier that runs both 2G voice on Band 8 (900 MHz) and 4G LTE data on Band 3 (1800 MHz), so an EE SIM is fully covered by the GD250: calls, SMS and mobile data are all amplified simultaneously. This is why the GD250 is described as "all four operators" — it covers all four carriers in the sense that it amplifies the bands each carrier uses, but only EE receives both voice and data from this one unit. If everyone in your household is on EE, the GD250 is the most complete single-unit solution Boost4U sells for a 250 m² home.

Why is the outdoor antenna a directional Yagi — can I aim it wrong?

A Yagi antenna is highly directional: it receives best when the long axis of the antenna points directly at the base station you want. The 8 dBi gain comes from that focus — about 3–4 dB more than a basic omni antenna — but if you point it at the wrong mast or at a solid brick chimney, you will see little or no improvement. Use a free field-strength app on your phone, walk outside the mounting point, find the direction where Band 8 and Band 3 signal is strongest, and aim the Yagi's elements along that bearing. The weatherproof bracket lets you fine-tune the angle after mounting. If your donor signal is already strong outside, an omni antenna would work — but in fringe rural signal, the Yagi's directionality is what makes the 50/55 dB gain usable across 250 m².

How far apart do the outdoor Yagi and indoor antenna need to be to stop self-oscillation?

At least 10 m of vertical separation — ideally the Yagi on the roof or gable and the indoor panel antenna on a lower floor or in a ground-floor room — is the rule of thumb for this gain level. "Self-oscillation" (or feedback) happens when the indoor antenna's re-broadcast signal is picked up directly by the outdoor antenna, creating a loop that overloads the amplifier and can interfere with the carrier's network. AGC helps, but it cannot fully cancel a tight loop. If you only have a two-storey house, place the indoor antenna in the centre of the lower floor and make sure it faces away from the Yagi's direction. The LED indicators on the GD250 will show an overload warning if the separation is too small.

    Does the GD250 boost 5G, 3G, Band 20 (800 MHz) or Band 7 (2600 MHz)?

No on all four. The GD250 is a dual-band unit fixed to Band 8 (900 MHz) and Band 3 (1800 MHz). It will not boost 5G NR on any band, it will not boost 3G UMTS, it will not boost O2/Vodafone 4G on Band 20 (800 MHz), and it will not boost EE/Vodafone 4G on Band 7 (2600 MHz). If your phone shows a 5G icon outdoors and you want 5G indoors, this is the wrong product. If your O2/Vodafone 4G is slow indoors because it rides Band 20, you need a Band 20 booster. The GD250 is the correct product only if your pain is Band 8 2G calls and/or Band 3 1800 MHz 4G data.

We have an EE phone and an O2 phone on separate SIMs — does the GD250 really help both?

Yes, and this is the exact use case the GD250 was built for. The EE phone gets amplified 2G calls on Band 8 and amplified 4G data on Band 3. The O2 phone gets amplified 2G calls and SMS on Band 8, with its 4G data left as-is (O2 4G on Band 20 is not touched). Both phones benefit at the same time because the GD250 amplifies both bands continuously — it does not switch between them. Up to 25 devices can be connected at once. This is why the GD250 costs more than a single-band unit: it is solving a multi-SIM, multi-carrier problem in one box.

Is 25 simultaneous users enough for a small shop, café or pub?

For a corner shop, a small office or a neighbourhood café, yes — 25 concurrent users covers staff plus a typical number of customers on their own phones at any one time. For a busy pub with 50+ patrons at a weekend, a 50-desk open-plan office, or a warehouse with staff across two floors, 25 will be too few and you should step up to a commercial C-series unit. The cap is a hard limit built into the RF design; it is not a soft licence. If you are unsure, count how many phones, tablets and mobile hotspots are actively using mobile data or making calls during your busiest hour — if that number stays under 25, the GD250 is the right size.

Why do I need 1–2 bars of signal outside if I have zero bars inside?

A signal booster amplifies the donor signal it receives at the outdoor antenna — it does not create radio waves from nothing. If your phone shows zero bars and "Emergency calls only" when you stand outside your front door, no Ofcom-legal booster at this price can manufacture a Band 8 or Band 3 signal. The GD250 is tuned for the very common UK scenario where you can get 1–2 bars outside (on the roof, chimney or gable) but the concrete, brick, cavity wall and double glazing drop you to zero or one bar indoors. The 8 dBi Yagi on the roof picks up that weak-but-present 1–2 bars and the 50/55 dB gain re-broadcasts it as a strong indoor signal. Before ordering, stand outside your mounting point and check Band 8 and Band 3 field strength in your phone's field mode or a network-scanner app.

    How It Works

how Mobile Signal Booster EE Signal Booster O2 Signal Booster Vodafone Signal Booster 4G LTE Booster Indoor Coverage Booster UK Mobile Network Improve Mobile Signal work for home office

    1

    Receives signal
The powerful antenna reaches out to access a voice and 3G, 4G, and LTE data signal, and delivers it to the booster

    2

    Boosts signal
The booster receives the signal, amplifies it, and serves as a relay between your phone and the nearest cell tower.

    3

    Broadcasts signal
Your devices get increased cell reception, and calls and data are fed through the booster back to the network.
